2013 Auction: Artlandia

Thank You From Kristen Kopack and Michele Blackwell, Artlandia Co-chairs!

This year’s auction, Artlandia, was a drum-pounding success. We raised $52,000 and it’s all because of the generous contributions from our community! Sure, we can plan a party and organize the details but it was the volunteers, teachers, donors, and supporters that made it successful. Volunteers gave their time to set-up, tear down, enter data, run, bid spot, emcee, make desserts, assemble placards, decorate, share ideas, secure donations, assist with auction projects, and score a clip from Carrie and Fred!

Thank you to Curtis Knapp & Yale Union for donating the inspiring venue, including equipment.
Our auctioneer, John Mayo, made a very generous $500 donation back to our school.
Motion Magic donated their entire entertainment piece and
The Last Regiment of Syncopated Drummers charged us almost nothing and literally blew us away with their powerful performance!
Culinary Artistry and Peter Corvallis offered us reduced rates on their services and MyBartender also donated back to the school at the end of the night.

Highlights:

  • Mr. Gifford’s 3rd grade class project sold for an astounding $4,400! WooHOO!!
  • Frances Kappes won the raffle and will soon be relaxing on a beach in Maui, Hawaii!

The Buckman Foundation is the primary source of funding for our fantastic arts program. Buckman School does not receive any additional funds from Portland Public Schools to pay for the Arts positions that allow for the inspired arts-integrated education all Buckman students receive. Anticipated statewide budget cuts along with mandated district requirements put Buckman’s Arts Program at risk, and we need your help to ensure this award-winning program continues.

It’s always a great time and we hope to raise a lot of money to pay for our arts staff at Buckman. Stay tuned for information on next year’s auction!
