Emergency Preparedness Fair @ Buckman Elementary
Apr 4 @ 6:30 pm

Buckman will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Fair on Monday, April 4, starting at 6:30 pm. Families can come and get information and resources for making a Family Emergency Plan as well as learn about how our school is trying to prepare for the possibility of an emergency. In addition, Buckman’s Safety committee along with Buckman Neighborhood NET are interested in locating a Buckman parent or neighbor who is a trained radio operator and could help out in the event of an emergency. Also Portland Bureau of Emergency Management is looking for folks willing to attend extensive NET training in May. If you have questions or are interested, please contact Melina in the office or Diane in the SUN office. We are hoping to build a strong emergency response team at our school in conjunction with the neighborhood NET team.

Family Story Night @ Buckman Elementary
Apr 14 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

The theme for this year’s family write night is “Telling your Family Stories”. Make a family coat of arms, a family history game, a memory box, a family time capsule or other fun things!  $2 slice pizza will be available to make it easy to come straight from work. Encourage your child to interview their parents or grandparents or aunts or uncles.  SUN can provide family oral history questions if you request them at dmeisenhelter@impactnw.org.

Your child can write up a family story and turn it in and it may be selected to be read on-stage.  Prizes will be awarded for K-2 and 3-5 categories. There will also be a number of writing prompts that evening if your child with your support would prefer to come up with a spontaneous contribution. Family Story Night will be April 14 from 6:30-8 pm.
