There are many ways to get involved at Buckman. Please consider taking on the following available volunteer jobs.

BUCKMAN AUCTION

The Buckman Arts Elementary Auction annually provided the funds that allows our school to opperate with an arts focused cirriculum. This event successfully happens because of parent involvement and community donations.

Chair: The big cheese – head honcho willing to make millions of small decisions and guide the year’s auction team.

Procurement and Sponsorship Specialists: We’ve started our push to procure auctionable items and to bring in sponsorships for businesses that would like to advertise in our program. We can put you in touch with local businesses that you probably already know and love, to ask for donations and sponsorships. We have packs availible for both.

Logistics Team: We need computer operators to do check-in/out and data entry, floaters to staff the silent auction tables, and quick hands to package items for winning bidders. Volunteers for the logistics team will help with data entry, and work the floor the night of the event. You won’t have to pay for a ticket, and you will be plied with food during the auction. Become part of this core group of people who will make the auction run smoothly.

Event Planning, Set-up, and Cleanup: The auction team needs folks to help set up and decorate for the event  and  clean up afterwards. This is a fun way to get a preview of the auction and help out in a way that will leave you free to enjoy the event. The more hands, the faster the work will go.

Desserts: Its the Buckman tradition of organizing a potluck dessert table, donated by parents and the community at large. Put your culinary skills to good use by providing a tasty treat for the auction. Desserts should be finger-food friendly. Gluten-free and vegan options are appreciated. Contact us and we’ll get you in touch with our dessert coordinator.

BUCKMAN FOUNDATION

The Buckman Foundation raises money throughout the year to pay for extra teaching staff. For the past few years, Foundation dollars have kept the arts team whole. Contact foundation@buckmanelementary.org to get involved.

Chair/Co-chair Mentee: Shadow current Foundation chairs this year, and take the reins next year!

Treasurer Mentee: Shadow the current Foundation treasurer and learn to manage incoming donations, oversee and report Foundation finances, and interact with All Hands Raised, Buckman Foundation’s parent organization. Then you can be treasurer next year.

Apparel Mentee: Shadow the current apparel manager, learn to manage ordering and sales of Buckman apparel and gear, and become apparel manager next year. Spearhead the creation and design of new apparel and gear.

ART SHOW AND SELL (Second week of March)

Volunteer: Sign up for a shift about a month before the event to help during the show. Look for sign up sheets in the main lobby or via parent mailer. 100 volunteer positions are typically needed to be filled to have a successful event! BUCKMAN MOVES FUN RAISER

The traditional Buckman outdoor, staff, kids and family friendly 1-day event aimed at fundraising for the arts programs. Students get pledges for minutes moving their bodies in any way they choose/or a flat fee. Traditionally, grades K-2 run in the AM, followed by 3-5 in the PM. Think: Fun Run or other A-thon

Coordinators: Work with PTA, Foundation and SUN leaders to determine a date (usually in October), gather and distribute materials, advertise for the event etc.
